Is Christmas a Christian Holiday?

Most professing christians are duped into believing that Christmas is a christian holiday, sadly to say, it is a pagan holiday, and there is nothing holy about it, it is all about idolatry. First of all, the Lord Jesus Christ was not born on Dec. 25th, and most bible scholars agree with that. On Dec. 21st, the so called sun god Mithra was supposedly born, which was on the winter solstice, and when the sun was at it's shortest peak, and it was on the 25th that the sun reached it's highest peak. Heathen pagans would go out and cut down trees and bring them in to  their homes and fasten them down to the floor and decorate them with silver and gold on the 25th in honor of the so called sun god Mithra. The one and only true and living God said as recorded in the Old Testament book of Jeremiah in chapter 10 in verses 2 thru 4, "Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They deck it with silver and gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not."

Now putting up a christmas tree whether it be real or fake will not send anyone to hell, only rejecting Jesus Christ sends a peson to hell, but I believe that it is an insult to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for christians to recognize his first coming to this earth with pagan customs such as putting up decorated trees. Most scholars agree that Jesus was born sometime in the spring like the end of March or the middle of April, because winter in Dec. was very cold as well as Jan. and Feb. Luke chapter 2 says, "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night." {verse 8} Not in the winter time, because shepherds took their flocks into the barns or some kind of shelter no later than the middle of October and kept them in there safe and warm until around March or April, so Jesus could not have been born on Dec. 25th anyway. The word Christmas means "Mass of Christ", and if you know what the word mass means, you know that Jesus has nothing to do with this pagan "holiday", because mass is a Roman Catholic term and it means, "death sacrifice", and Jesus has nothing to do with mass, because Jesus is alive for evermore. The Roman Catholic Church which is a false church is the one that adopted this pagan "holiday" which has roots in paganism, and so does the Roman Catholic Church.

Santa Claus and flying reindeer have nothing to do with Jesus Christ. When people say to one another, "Merry Christmas", they are basically and unknowingly saying, "Merry death of Christ."
Mistle toe has pagan origins too. If God expected us to celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ, the date of his birth would have been in the bible. I don't think the Lord would mind us celebrating the virgin birth that night in a stable over 2000 years ago, but leave out the pagan customs. I mean, why celebrate this so called holiday the way unsaved Christ rejectors do? The Word of God says in John 4:24, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." I think we as christians if we are going to celebrate the birth of our Saviour, ought to do it in spirit and in truth. We don't put up christmas trees in our family, but my wife likes to put up some lights in the window, and I have no problem with that, because after all, God is called the "Father of lights" in James 1:17, and I like to receive presents, we all do, and I like to give presents. I 've heard people say, "We need to put Christ back in Christmas," well, Jesus was never and would never be a part of Christmas. I will admit, I love watching some christmas programs on tv, the old ones anyway that I have on tape and DVD, and I love to receive presents and give presents as I said earlier, but when we exchange presents with our friends or loved ones, lets do it in rememberance of the gift that God gave to us, which is the gift of eternal life through his Son Jesus Christ, and when we sit down to eat a meal on that day or any day for that matter, whether it be ham or turkey or whatever, let us give praise and thanks to the one who ultimately provided it for us.  The bottom line is, this "holiday" known as Christmas is NOT a christian holiday.

God Bless,
Christopher
