Who Are the Two Witnesses of Revelation Chapter 11?

Some bible scholars and theologians believe that the two witnesses, who are also called the "two olive trees", and "two candlesticks" that will appear on the world scene before the Lord returns who are recorded in Revelation chapter 11  are none other than Moses and Elijah, and  some bible preachers, my pastor included believe that may be the case. Some teach that the two witnesses are Israel and the Church. I believe the former. The reason why I believe it may very well be Moses and Elijah, is because in Malachi 4:5, the Lord said, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord."

Hebrews 9:27 says, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."   You see, Elijah never had his appointment with death, he was taken up into heaven without ever seeing death, maybe because he will have his appointment with death after he is sent down here and prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, as it says in Rev. chapter 11. As far as Moses  being the other witness goes, well, Moses had already died, BUT, in Jude 9, it talks about the archangel Michael contending and disputing with the devil about the body of Moses. I believe that God may very well resurrect Moses and send him down here to be the other witness, and the devil wanted to prevent that, so Michael was contending with the devil to keep him from getting at the body of Moses.

Another reason why I believe it may be Moses, is because the plagues that the two witnesses smite the earth with during the days of the Anti-christ, are similar to the ones that God brought on Egypt when Pharaoh refused to heed Moses's warning about plagues that would come for refusing to let the Israelites go,like for instance, the waters being turned to blood. Another reason why I believe Moses might very well be the other witness, is because after all, he was one of the men that God used to write the bible , Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Old Testament, and it was Moses that God gave the ten commandments to up on mount Sinai.

Now I may be wrong about Moses and Elijah being the two witnesses, but it is a good possibilty I believe that they may be the ones, God only knows.

God Bless,

Christopher
