The Fear of God

      Most so called christian churches, including these big time tv ministers in America never talk about the fear of God, something the bible mentions about 300 times. Now don't get me wrong, born again christians don't have to fear God the way unsaved people do, born again christians ought to have a reverential fear of God, that if we as believers get out of line, our heavenly Father will correct us. Unsaved people should have a fear of God that if they don't repent and get saved, they will suffer the wrath of Almighty God, which is hell fire and damnation, so whether one is a christian or not, he or she better fear God.

The word of God says,  "The fear of the Lord is the begining of wisdom...." {Psalm 111:10, Proverbs 9:10}  Now if Adam and Eve would have feared God, they would not have eaten off the tree and end up dying spiritually, if people in Noah's day would have feared God, God wouldn't have had to destroy the world with the flood, if  Jonah  would have feared God, he would have went to Ninevah like God told him to in the first place instead of trying to run away and end up being in the whale's belly for 3 days, if Ananias and Sapphira would have feared God, they wouldn't have lied to God and end up dropping down dead in the church house, and by the way, when Ananias and Sapphira did drop down dead in the church house, scripture says, "And great fear came upon all the church..." {Acts 5:11} The Church today desperately needs a healthy fear of God.  The Lord Jesus said,  "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." {Matt. 10:28} The word of God also says, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." {Hebrews 10:31}

You never hear about the fear of God in all these big time tv ministeries, most of these tv ministers preach a smooth message that's soothing to the ears, they preach a god whose all love who wouldn't hurt anybody, instead of THE God who is to be feared. We as believers need to warn people about the coming judgment, we need to tell them to flee from the wrath to come. The word of God says,  "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men....." {2 Cor. 5:11}  You need to fear God, I need to fear God, we ought to be afraid to get out of line as believers for fear of the chastening hand of God, and we need to warn the unbelievers about the fear of God so they don't suffer his wrath. Not only is the fear of the Lord the begining of knowledge, the fear of the Lord is also clean as it says in Psalm 19:9. If a young person wants to live long, he or she better fear God, because scripture says, "The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened."  {Proverbs 10:27}

Here are just a few more verses out of the some 300 that mentions the fear of the Lord, they are:  Psalm 34:9, Proverbs 3:7, Proverbs 14:26, Eccl. 12:13, Luke 12:5.

God is not suggesting that we fear him, he commands us to fear him, so as a reminder in closing, if who ever is reading this message whether saved or not, does not fear God, you need to.

God Bless,

Christopher
