Scriptual Proof That Jesus Is God Almighty
Many people don't believe that Jesus Christ is God Almighty, some believe that He was just the Son of God, and others believe He was just a prophet, well, Jesus Christ was the Son of God, BUT He was and is also God Almighty. I will give scriptual proof that Jesus Christ was more than just the Son of God, but that He was also God. In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah said about 730 years before the birth of Jesus, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, THE MIGHTY GOD,The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." { Isaiah 9:6} Now of course Isaiah was talking about the birth of the Messiah Jesus and notice what Isaiah called him in this verse, he called him "The mighty God", and also, he called him "The everlasting Father", so this verse right here tells you that Jesus was God. In the New Testament book of Matthew in chapter 1 verse 23, Matthew wrote about the prophecy of the Messiah's birth being fulfilled as also prophecied by Isaiah some 730 years before as recorded in Isaiah 7:14, and notice what the Messiah Jesus is called in Isaiah 7:14 and Matt.1:23, He is called "Emmanuel", which means "God with us". In the New Testament book of John in chapter 1, it says in verse 14, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,{and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,} full of grace and truth" Now, that verse is obviously refering to Jesus Christ, and what does it say at the begining of that verse? It says "The Word was made flesh", now go to verse 1, it says, "In the begining was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD." Since the Word was made flesh as it says in verse 14, and since verse 1 calls the Word "God", those two verses are saying that Jesus was God.
Verse 3 says that "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." Now who is the "him" in this verse? The "him" is Jesus, and it says that all things were made BY HIM, so verse 3 is saying that Jesus was God. Verse 10 says, "He was in the world, and the world was made BY HIM, and the world knew him not." Who is the "He" and "him" in this verse? It is Jesus, so again, Jesus was God. Jesus Christ was God in the flesh, and Jesus himself said, "......he that hath seen me hath seen the Father....." {John 14:9}, and, "I and my Father are one." {John 10:30} The apostle Paul said about Jesus in Colossians 1:16, "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or by powers: all things were created by him, and for him." Paul was saying that Jesus was God by saying that.
I believe the ultimate verse that proves that Jesus was God, is 1 Timothy 3:16, it says, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." Since John chapter 1 says that the Word was God, and that the Word was made flesh, here is another verse that proves that Jesus was God, it is 1 John 5:7, it says, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three ARE ONE." Now there are several other verses that prove that Jesus was God, but I will give just two more, and they are in John 20:28, and Rev.1:8, In John 20:28, what does Thomas call Jesus? He calls Him "My Lord and my God", and in Rev. 1:8, Jesus himself says to John, "I am Alpha and Omega, the begining and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."
Jesus called himself the Almighty in that verse. Anyone who might be reading this message might say, "If Jesus was God, who was He praying to in that prayer in John chapter 17, was he praying to himself"? No, Jesus was praying to his Father, it is a mystery, God exists in three persons, God the Father {Jehovah} God the Son{Jesus} and God the Holy Spirit, all three are seperate, BUT yet all three are one. Scriptures prove without a doubt that Jesus was and IS God.
God Bless,
