The Love Of God
Nobody can or will love us more than God does. He demonstrated that love when He sent His Son Jesus down here to die on a cross. God doesnt just love us, He SO loved us, for it says in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God is not like love, but 1 John 4:8,16 says that "God IS love". God loves each and every one of us more than we realize, and the fact that He sent His Son to die for us, and the fact that He puts up with us proves that. Since God loves us, and has given us His Holy Spirit, He commands us to love one another as He loves us, and He said that as recorded in John 15:12.
Jesus said, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." {John 15:13} Jesus laid down His life for us, so if we truly believe in Jesus, we should be willing to lay down our lives for our friends, and our enemies too, because Jesus did, He died on a cross for His friends and His enemies. I guess we have a good idea of how much Jesus loves us, because it says in 1 John 3:16, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us...." I will close this message with this verse, "We love him, because he first loved us." {1 John 4:19}
