Eternal Salvation

A lot of professing christians believe that they can lose their salvation. I   believe in the eternal security of the believer, and I will use some scriptures to back up my belief. First of all the Lord Jesus Christ said in John chapter 10 starting with verse 27,  "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them ETERNAL LIFE; and they shall NEVER PERISH, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." {verse 28} Now, what kind of life does He give us?  it is eternal life, it wouldn't be eternal if you could lose it, and remember, He said "never perish", and "never" means never. Some people say, "well, you can pluck yourself out of his hand",  well, the bible says that we are "kept by the power of God" in 1 Peter 1:5. People who believe that they can lose salvation, deny the power of God, and they are basically calling Jesus a liar, because it is eternal life as He said in verse 28 of John chapter 10, not temporary life, and He said "never perish" in that same verse, so they are calling him a liar.

Professing christians who believe they can lose salvation, might not be saved, because they are obviously basing their salvation on something they are doing, or not doing, they are basing their "salvation" on their good works, or church membership, or water baptism, they are trying to hold on to God, when Ephesians 2:8,9 plainley says,  "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast."  We can't save ourselves, and we can't unsave our selves, because salvation is not of our selves as it says, and it's not by works as it says also. We are saved by grace as it says, and "grace" means "undeserved kindness",  we don't deserve it. Verse 10 of Ephesians chapter 2 says, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus....."  We are the clay and He is the potter, now if we were to lose our salvation, whose fault would it be?  it would be his fault, why? because we are his workmanship, but remember, He never fails.

A christian can quench or grieve the holy Spirit by saying or doing things he or she shouldn't be saying or doing, but that doesn't mean he or she lost their salvation. Ephesians 4:30 says,  "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are SEALED unto the Day OF REDEMPTION"  Now that  verse doesn't say that we are sealed unto the day we sin again, no no, it says  we are sealed unto the day of redemption, now we don't go from being  sealed to unsealed, we don't go from being born again to being unborn again. When a person  gets born again, he or she becomes a new creature in Christ as it says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, now a person doesn't go from being a new creature back to being the old creature.  If we mess up as christians, God won't take away our salvation, but He will chasten us as it says in Hebrews 12:6. There are many other verses that support my belief in the eternal security of the believer, but from keeping this message from being any longer than it is now, I'll just use just the ones that I did.

God Bless,

Christopher
